GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS TO THE WEB SITE OF GREAT ECCLESTON CRICKET CLUB

WEATHER FORECASTS WILL APPEAR HERE DURING THE SEASON

Club house update

Please note the club house is a building site and so visitors are NOT allowed.
David and Jeremy Whittle from RP Tyson's are really driving the project. Initially the plan was to complete most of the build before the 2012 season but fit the new bar at the end of the 2012 season. Because so much progress has been made we now are aiming to complete the whole project for the 2012 season.
Work is progressing well to such an extent we are confident/hopeful that it could ALL be completed before the forthcoming season.
The current position is
The foundations have been laid
The extension floor has been laid
External walls have been built up to the height of the club house.
Roofing joists are on site
Windows and doors are being manufactured in Tyson's workshops
Some committee members met with David Whittle last week and the plan ahead for the next month or so is as follows
Scaffolding should be up next week
The old bar will be ripped out next week
The roofing joists and then the roof will be fitted
Doors and windows will be fitted
So that by the end of January the club house will be a sealed secure unit.
The following decisions were made last week
The roof tiles will be a lightweight flexible material that will withstand cricket balls (additional cost)
The roof will over hang by a few feet on the east side where we barbecue
There will be a false sealing in the clubhouse (so the cob webs will disappear)
The walls will remain brick except the internal toilet/kitchen wall that will be plastered.
The dart board will be positioned in the Northeast corner
The bar will be separate from the kitchen
Exact dimensions and specific layout for the bar will be progressed but will accommodate a third bigger club house.
We will acquire a lean to secure cage outside the west wall to accommodate the gas barbecue, beer barrels and gas canisters.
We agreed the layout and specification of the kitchen and the toilets.
The kitchen will have a dishwasher and fridge freezer and 600 cm (rather than 500cm) cooker.
The bar will have a glass washer.
We agreed positions for the TV and the big screen projector on the east wall opposite the central pillar
The central pillar will be designed as a feature with the main medal/pictures on display.
Of the two large glass viewing windows at the south facing wall, overlooking the cricket ground the first will be floor to ceiling none opening toughened glass guaranteed not to smash and the second will be toughened glass concertina floor to ceiling door that can be opened out on to the patio.
The flower bed will be removed to enable the concertina doors to open and allow necessary disabled access to the current ramped door.
A patio will be redesigned and laid to compliment the boundary, allow enough space for the doors to open, passage for the disabled entrance and provide a wind break from the westerly winds.
Agree none slip, hard wearing, flooring in the kitchen, toilets and around the bar area.
We will acquire new/fresh chairs and bar stools to ensure a whole new feel.
Hand dryers rather than towels will be in the toilets
The great news is that we are going to have a fantastic club house ready or nearly ready for the 2012 season. For the first time this week we began to picture in our minds what the new build will look like.

The committee will meet again with Dave Whittle towards the end of January when I will update you with further progress. In the meantime if you have any ideas pick up the phone.
Ted Thistlethwaite.
